LEGhub is the central web portal for local electricity communities (LEG). Developed by Swisspower, jls, and Ajila AG, the portal digitizes complex processes between different stakeholders consistently and efficiently: for the first time, request, validation, community formation, and membership all run fully digital. Thanks to an intuitive user experience, customers can easily find the information they need and independently create or join an electricity community. Electricity providers also benefit by managing LEG processes more efficiently and in compliance with regulations.
Self-Service Portal for Local Electricity Communities
Local electricity communities make it possible to share self-generated electricity within neighborhoods, making an important contribution to the electricity transition. From 2026, they will be officially allowed in Switzerland — opening new opportunities for households and businesses to share electricity.
For electricity providers, however, LEGs also mean rising demands in validation, contract management, and customer service — processes that without digital support would require significant resources. This is where LEGhub comes in, providing an end-to-end digital process that safely guides all stakeholders step by step.
User-Centered Processes
Good customer experience means providing orientation. LEGhub divides the overall process into manageable steps, ensuring clarity:
-
LEGFinder: shows whether open communities already exist based on an address.
-
vZEV Check: helps test which addresses may alternatively form a vZEV.
-
Informative texts: provide explanations where questions arise.
This makes the next steps understandable even without technical expertise, while electricity providers receive precisely prepared requests reducing the need for follow-ups.

End-to-End Digital
LEGhub maps the entire process from the first request to community formation fully online.
-
Joining existing communities via a web form
-
Network and plausibility checks run in the background to filter out unsuitable combinations early
-
Contracts and documents generated automatically, signed legally with QES if needed
-
Transparent status updates and notifications at every step
This reduces manual effort for providers while increasing transparency for all participants.
Modular Electricity Web Platform with Composable Architecture
LEGhub is modular by design: features such as LEGFinder, vZEV Check, contract service, notifications, and reporting are independent building blocks connected via APIs.
Existing systems like ERP can be seamlessly integrated. This follows the principle of Composable Architecture, making the platform scalable and extendable without disrupting core processes.
Designing Consistent Digital Touchpoints
A self-service portal is most effective when interactions are clear and predictable. LEGhub ensures this with:
-
clean, reduced interfaces
-
unambiguous labels
-
transparent states
-
micro-feedback such as validation and progress indicators
Language is deliberately kept simple so even technical content is easy to understand. This creates digital touchpoints that build trust, remove barriers, and deliver a seamless user experience both on desktop and mobile.
Conclusion
LEGhub demonstrates how a self-service portal can reduce complexity and support decision-making efficiently. The modular web platform provides reliable guidance through digital processes, integrates smoothly with existing systems, and remains highly flexible.
For customers, LEGhub creates orientation and transparency. For electricity providers, it delivers optimized processes with less manual effort.
