A step into the professional future
«How do I decide on an apprenticeship?»
At the beginning of my career choice, I was faced with a conundrum. All I knew was that my future would have to do with computers.
Polygraph? Too monotonous.
Computer scientist? I was interested in programming - but doing it all day long?
That is when mediamatics came into play - a kind of Swiss army knife of the digital world. For me, it is the perfect mix of different disciplines, which brings a lot of variety into my everyday life and prepares me perfectly for the digital future. After my trial day at jls, I was immediately hooked. I applied and was very excited when I was accepted.
The apprenticeship as a cornerstone
Looking back on my four-year apprenticeship: a journey through all jls departments
I started my apprenticeship in the Finance & Services department. There I learned the basics of an «office job» - and yes, even writing emails and answering phone calls can be a challenge if you've never done it before. Next, I went to Operations, where I learned the basics of IT. I configured devices, dealt with faults and installed systems for customers. Unfortunately, I had to switch to working from home due to known circumstances. But hey, who can say they worked in their pyjamas? At Creative Advisory, I learned the right way to deal with customers and how to keep a cool head even in stressful situations. I also gained an exciting insight into internal marketing and was able to implement several projects.
One of these was the jls adventsgame, which I was able to implement myself during my stay in software development. This gave me an understanding of the basics of programming through an exciting project. Despite the complexity of the topic, I found it extremely interesting and instructive. It was an exciting experience that deepened my understanding of technology. I also took a brief detour into project management, where I learned a lot about organization and communication.
Variety in everyday working life leads to great learning successes
The creative department and my final thesis
My «favorite department» was Creation. There was something new to discover in the animation program every day and I was able to learn a lot. I particularly enjoyed the combination of visual and programmatic work. For this reason, I also did my final project in this department.
Training, prospects and enthusiasm for the future
«What happens now?»
After four intensive and instructive years at jls, I have completed my training as a mediamatician. The question now was: what comes next? The answer was quite simple: I am lucky enough to be able to continue working at jls in my favorite department, Creation, as a motion designer.
My time at jls has not only provided me with comprehensive training, but has also opened up prospects for my professional future. I see myself continuing to work in the digital world in the coming years, where I can further develop my skills. After all, the learning period does not end with the apprenticeship. The dynamic atmosphere and the exciting projects that await me make me excited about the future.
